Quebec City or Bust!

Following a tremendous sendoff by many friends and family from Traders Point Christian Academy on Friday, we decided to drive through the night to reach Quebec City as early as possible on Saturday. About five hours into the trip, we joined with Julie Hirshberger who will join Oma as our support team, reaching Quebec City about 10:30 a.m. this morning. It's a beautiful city that sits atop a steep hill (it never hurts to have a good headstart for a cross-country bike ride) and overlooks the St. Lawrence. Founded in 1608 and celebrating its 400th anniversary this year, this French-speaking city has an older, European feel with winding streets and lots of flower baskets while being surrounded by a walled fortress and serving as the capital of Quebec.

Between a relaxed lunch at an outdoor cafe, seeing a variety of street performers demonstrate their seemingly unique talents (including a gentleman who sang and played five instruments at once while I worked diligently to clap in beat), taking a tour of the dramatic Hotel Frontenac that traces its history back to the 1880s and has hosted such dramatic events as allied meetings in preparation for D-Day, it was a good day to refresh and prepare for the ride.

Safe and sound. Excited for tomorrow's ride. Hoping you will "ride along" with us on this journey. We'll be on the road around 7 a.m. and are looking forward to a great ride.

Dear Dad, I hope you are safe. I beat Mom today in ping pong. We are having lots of wind and rain. The Colts won 18-15 against the Vikings. Bob Sanders, Tony Hugo, Dallas Clark and Jeff Saturday all had injuries. Love, David

Charlie,
Clint and I will be following your journey. We will be praying for perfect weather, physical and mental endurance, a great wall of protection for all of you and round tires (with air in them).
BTW, when you get back and want to retire, I've been looking @ garage sales for a bike. I did find a really neat one. Though, it was pink and had no seat.
Truly you are a "peddler" for our Lord Jesus and TPCS's. Grace and Blessings!

Morrie and I have been praying often for your ride and for all of those who accompany you (say Hi to Elsa - aka Oma). Also praying for Lori and the children as they miss you. We know God is in control of this whole venture and hope you feel His direction and care.
In Him,
Jane Brown

Bikers, I had to laugh about the bugs. Three days a week while mowing TPCC I get some unusual bugs for snacks. I've gotten so now, I can tell what time of season it is by the bugs. Ususally get stung by something once a week.

Pics are beautiful! Everything looks so green. Green is good!

We keep praying for you and thanking God for you, your purpose and goal. Grandy's are grand.

About Me

Ride Across America: A Journey of Faith Beginning on September 14, 2008 TPCA Parent and Board Member Charlie Grandy will Ride Across America, trekking from Quebec City to Miami - an overall distance of 2,235 miles in just 20 days! This Journey of Faith is Charlie following God's call to raise awareness and support of the mission of Traders Point Christian Academy. This will also serve to encourage students, families and participants to have fun, deepen their faith and develop a greater sense of community by serving together with a common purpose, as well as develop a habit-forming healthy lifestyle for our students, families and surrounding community. Ride Across America culminates on Friday October 3, when Charlie arrives in Miami and joins TPCA via a web-cast and we celebrate this incredible Journey of Faith. The students will then hold the 2nd Annual TPCA Walk/Bike-A-Thon on the school campus as their way to showcase the student body's focus on physical activity and spiritual growth. http://www.tpcs.org/rideacrossamerica.asp
